Not your Ordinary Dictionary

Get to know the best dictionary available for English language learners!

As you know, dictionary apps are always a valuable tool - regardless of whether you're learning a new language for the first time or merely want to check the meaning of a few words you didn't understand in class, at work, or while reading a newspaper, having a dictionary on hand is always useful.

Admit it or not, the English language contains millions of words, and the average speaker (like me) only uses a small percentage of the new jargon and phrases. A dictionary app can help you expand your English vocabulary in addition to learning new words.

Now, my question is: are you looking for a dictionary app that you can bring anytime, anywhere? Fret no more, because this app is not just an ordinary app, but (at least for me) a fun and extraordinary one! This app is the no.1 choice of an educational app store! You heard it right, guys. Number 1 recommended app! I've been using this app for a few months now and it's always been useful! So, sit back and relax as I bring you to the world of this amazing app.

The app's name is no longer novel to you because I assume you've heard its name. Who doesn't know Merriam-Webster dictionary hardbound copy, right? But this time, it's upgraded! You can download the app through a play store and it is one of the most powerful dictionary apps out there. This app includes features such as voice search, audio pronunciation, example sentences of the word, word of the day, and an integrated thesaurus including synonyms and antonyms. And wait, there's more! It has games too, guys! Isn't it cool?

Oops, so sorry to keep you hanging! But now lemme introduce the deets of Merriam- webster dictionary app!

First, the vocabulary-boosting feature is the “Word of the Day”. It's an integrated thesaurus equipped with synonyms and antonyms, quick definitions, and example sentences. In order to know at least one word a day, you can simply open the app and take a look at the new sophisticated word. I suggest that you set a time during the day so you won't forget it. I usually check it in the morning before my classes start. What a beautiful way to begin your day, right? You can also use the newly learned word in your own sentence. In that way, the word will retain in your brain.

The other feature is the games which have 3 categories:

1.       1. “How Strong is your Vocabulary”. Basically, it's like how well you know the given word. But what challenges me in this game is that it has 4 scales: light, medium, hard, and devilish. Now, I am still on a medium scale because to tell you honestly, it's not that easy. Ha ha. :)   A lot of words are really new for me and very difficult:(   I had many, many attempts until I reached this level you know ;)  And also, you only have 10 seconds to answer the synonym of the word! Would you beat that? In any case, it's been beneficial for me as I learn to think and answer quickly.

2.
"True or false". In this section, you only have two levels: the light and the medium, and you have 15 seconds to answer the question. As of now, I'm still at the light level.  This game scrutinizes your general knowledge of history, geography, science, technology, entertainment, etc and I have to say it exposes my lack of curiosity about the world around me or what came before. 😊So, if you want to expand your general knowledge, this game will surely not let you down!

3.  The last game is called “name that thing”. It tests your visual vocabulary with a 10-question challenge! Just like the other two games above, you just have to choose the correct answer from the choices. You have two levels to conquer which are light and difficult and you have 10 seconds to answer each question. The faster you answer, the higher your score, and the harder the question, the higher your score. Modesty aside, I'm at a difficult level now. I guess I'm a visual kind of person. ^-^

So, that's it, guys! I believe you'll agree with me that this is not just an ordinary dictionary app but an extraordinary one and I hope I inspired you to install this tremendously handy educational tool on your android phone. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I do.  Remember, if learning is fun, it will be more effective and we have just found out how this app boosts memory retention and keeps you engaged! Good luck :)
